We recently had our wedding at the wonderful Reading Room, and it was simply perfect!
The space is immaculate - stunning, intimate, and has an air of magic about it. But the jewel in the crown is the owners - Jo & Simon.
From the moment we met Jo & Simon, we knew we were in safe hands. They made the whole wedding planning journey simple fun, and stress free. No question was too much, they were responsive and proactive from start to finish. They were on hand on set up day, for the big things like setting up tables, and the smaller details like making us cups of tea! On clear up day, they had packed all of our things for us, meaning all we had to do was put them back in the car. The wedding day itself was seamless - any hiccups behind the scenes we knew nothing about, which goes to show what total experts they are at their craft. From the very beginning, Jo & Simon made it easy for us to fully enjoy the wedding planning process.
We've had so many compliments on both the venue, and Jo & Simon, from our family & friends, and we wholeheartedly agree with every single one. Our day was completely magical, far exceeding both of our expectations, and we truly cannot recommend the Reading Room - and Jo & Simon - highly enough!

Our son and, now, daughter-in-law chose The Reading Room to accommodate the family for their wedding and it was an inspired choice.
The owners, Jo & SimonWilliams, were absolutely brilliant, in all aspects, giving us the reassurance the occasion would be one to remember. From our initial on-site meeting, 6 weeks before the ceremony, it was clear it was a well organised business and this high level of organisation followed through on the day itself.
We had one, semi-major, issue that quickly became obvious on the day (no Pimms!), but Simon & Jo stepped in immediately to fill the gap.
We left the venue at 11pm, on the wedding day, leaving a fair mess, but with us scheduled to go in on the Sunday morning to collect our things.
When we arrived the following morning, Jo & Simon had cleared everything up with all the flowers, the vases, the left-over drink and various personal belongings on a big table for us to take. It could not have been easier.
We would recommend The Reading Room as a glorious venue for a wedding or for any family gathering.

We had our wedding day on Saturday 23rd May, and we couldn't have chosen a venue more suited for us, it was perfect! The perfect mix between a church with the large gothic windows and a modern converted barn. The Reading Room is such a beautiful venue, not too small nor too big. The garden is beautiful and very well maintained and provides the perfect backdrop. Jo and Simon went above and beyond during the whole process, from the date we booked with them up until our wedding day, including the day prior with setting up and the day following with collecting everything from the venue, and are generally very calm (which I needed as the bride) and lovely people. We couldn't recommend The Reading Room enough! Thank you!

The most perfectly magical wedding venue! ✨🥰
From the moment we viewed the Reading Room and met Jo, we knew it was the one. We still viewed two other venues, as the reading room was our first viewing, but quickly stopped the search, knowing nothing could compare.
The building is absolutely beautiful, it doesn't need lots of 'extras' to make it feel special, it's just special in itself. And the garden... Wow, you can tell lots of love and energy is poured into the whole place by Jo and Simon. Even from the carpark and the walk up to the garden, everything is just stunning.
Jo and Simon are lovely people. They have such a wonderful energy, they are so kind and welcoming, and wonderfully organised. We felt absolutely at ease throughout our whole wedding planning experience, and on the day, knowing that they had everything in hand. They really make you feel special, which I can't imagine is easy when they must meet so many couples.
We have had no end of compliments from our guests about how perfect the venue was, we are so, so, glad we found The Reading Room.

Simon and Jo are absolutely wonderful people and we were so blessed to have our ceremony with them in their beautiful venue.
Simon and Jo were both so incredibly helpful through every step of the process. I can't praise their communicativeness, cordial manners, and supportive natures enough. They put us at such ease on the biggest day of our lives together hitherto.
They were both so helpful not just during the day itself but also whilst we were preparing the venue the night before and tidying up. Words are not sufficient to do them justice.
The venue is picturesque and felt like I had stepped into a novel's garden. The grounds were perfectly manicured. All our guests commented on how gorgeous the venue was.

If you want a perfect day then choose The Reading Room . We can not recommend it enough. It is everything and more that it says and shows in the brochure. The setting is so beautiful and it is immaculate everywhere you look .
Simon and Jo are so lovely. They think of everything for you so you do not have to stress. So very helpful and was there all through our day helping.
We spent hours and hours looking for the perfect venue and it paid off. We couldn’t have chosen better.

Jo and Simon have got a beautiful venue at the reading room. The building itself is perfect for a wedding ceremony with plenty of character and all of the facilities you would need. The gardens and surroundings are also extremely well looked after and are beautiful for wedding photos. Jo and Simon couldn’t have done more to make our day so special. They were so happy to do what ever they could to ensure the day ran smoothly and we can’t recommend them and the reading room enough. We had a late November wedding and even in the colder months the garden looked stunning and we were able to utilise the outdoor seating area. Everybody who came to the wedding couldn’t speak any more highly of the venue and how amazing it looked.

We have recently celebrated our wedding and the Reading Room was just the perfect venue 🤍 Jo and Simon made everything so easy and stress free from the moment we first made contact with them, we couldn’t be more grateful to them for making our dream wedding come true, and just wish we could do it all again! Our ceremony took place in St Ethelbert’s church next door, which was perfect so guests only had a short walk between ceremony and reception. The venue is such a stunning blank canvas that you can really make your own, with amazing gardens perfect for photos, and the flexibility the venue gives is something that really makes it stand out from any others we viewed! The venue was perfect for what we wanted and on relatively short notice (4 months)! Simon and Jo were great, readily available and managed to make us feel at ease during the whole process. They helped us us make the day exactly how we wanted it. The building along with the surrounding gardens are beautiful and were large enough to host our guests comfortably. We were provided a list of recommended photographers, caterers etc which made all the planning easier.

The Reading Room was the most perfect venue for our Wedding reception. Even in late October the grounds were beautiful with Autumnal colours everywhere. We looked at only a few venues in Norfolk, as the moment we walked through the woods and into the gardens at the Reading Room we knew it was the one. The gardens are stunning, and it’s a perfect venue for making an intimate wedding feel like the loveliest garden party.
Jo and Simon were flawless from start to finish. Always clear, prompt and accommodating, they were so kind and genuinely lovely people to get to know. They clearly love what they do, and care deeply that you have an amazing day. Their list of trusted suppliers also made everything so easy to plan, whilst the venue is great for bringing to life lots of personal touches which really make it feel like your day.
Our friends and family could not have been more glowing about the venue and the church next door where we had our ceremony.

Beyond special. Not only is the venue stunning but the whole experience of planning and hosting our wedding here was a joy. Simon and Jo made it so easy for us and worked incredibly hard on the build up and the day to make everything perfect. After viewing several other wedding venues we found the Reading Room online and looked no further - we fell in love on our first visit.
Jo and Simon were both incredibly supportive and listened to our individual needs and wishes, this is something we found some other venues lacked. On top of this, the whole venue is immaculate, gardens included! One of the lovely things about this venue is that it comes with recommendations for trusted suppliers such as DJs, caterers and photographers; this means there is loads of flexibility too.
Jo and Simon were on hand in the lead up to the wedding to answer questions and steer us in the right direction on certain aspects which was helpful as this was our first time planning a wedding. The day before, we arrived to set up and they both helped move things into the right place and again answered our many questions.
On the day, we couldn’t have asked for more. Jo and Simon were both around for the whole day just making sure things went to plan. Their friendly faces were a welcome sight amongst the nerves on the day and we couldn’t be more thankful. When we returned the morning after, help was on hand again to help pack up our things.
Jo and Simon really did pull out all the stops and I cannot recommend the Reading Room enough!

Our wedding day at The Reading Room on Saturday 9th Sept was an absolutely perfect day. The sun shone and the setting of the garden for our outdoor ceremony was just as we had dreamed it would be. The interior of The Reading Room was gorgeous and all our guests just loved it. Fun & laughter was the order of the day and Jo and Simon’s support throughout enabled us to deliver just that. Simon and Jo were so attentive and helpful, from the 1st email exchange, and made us feel that no question was a silly question! They were so flexible, and allowed us to bring our own flower displays, and home baked chocolate brownies which made our wedding day feel so much more personal!
There are so many lovely photo spots, which are emphasised by the immaculate gardens.

We got married at the Reading Room in early July. We were living abroad when we got engaged but knew we wanted to get married in England. I fell in love with the venue when researching online and knew it looked perfect - I was so relieved that it was even more beautiful in person. Simon was incredible to work with in the run-up to the day: they were so communicative and helpful via email, it was such a relief to know everything was so under control. On the day they were on hand at all times, helping with set-up, ceremony and music, keeping the timeline running, even helping our friends get into taxis at the end of the night! It was the absolute perfect venue for a relaxed wedding. The suppliers they recommend are brilliant too. All our guests were blown away by the whole day, I would thoroughly recommend the Reading Room to anyone!

We had a fantastic Wedding day on the 15th of April 2023, hosted by the Reading Room. The venue is absolutely beautiful with big windows and lovely wooden beams which meant that, apart from table arrangements and some flowers, we required very little decoration. There are plenty of hidden spots in the gardens and in the nearby field for some more intimate wedding photos of the bride and groom and the gardens are kept to an amazing standard. Simon and Jo are the most helpful and friendly hosts and made sure that our day ran smoothly without us needing to provide direction to any vendors at any time. They also sat down with us before the wedding to help us think through the day so that we didn't miss anything important which was a really comforting touch.

The venue is an intimate and the gardens are the best I’ve seen. The venue spends a lot of time with the outside - So much colour and not all green - Makes for gorgeous photos!
The staff were fantastic and couldn’t help more. If anyone had a query, it was sorted. A selection of blankets for those relaxing outside was very welcome!

Gorgeous venue which is made even more special by the wonderful Jo and Simon. We got married in September '22 on a drizzly day but thanks to the flexibility of the beautiful inside space and gorgeous gardens at The Reading Room this wasn't a problem at all. We picked the caterers (B&R) and evening food (Broadside Pizza) from the preferred suppliers list and they were both brilliant and offered excellent value. There is no corkage charges at the venue which is amazing and a huge saving over other venues. Both the inside and outside space are licenced for wedding ceremonies so you can hold your entire day onsite.

Over a month has passed since we said I do at The Reading Room and truthfully, barely a day has passed by that we haven't reflected in some way at how lucky we feel at finding the amazing suppliers that made our day so magical and memorable.
The greatest part of this is of course, due entirely to the utterly enchanting wedding venue that you both have so skilfully created in Alby.
The rural location, stunning architecture, elegant interior space, and exquisite pristine gardens are all simply beautiful, but the location truly awakens when you host a wedding there. The level of detail that you both bring to the planning stages to ensure every element is considered, and the calmness and total professionalism of delivery throughout the day is not only hugely reassuring, but allowed us both to feel totally relaxed in the knowledge that all the planned details were being taken care of.
All our guests were captivated by the Reading Room and all have said how very much they enjoyed our special day.

We got married towards the end of July and the venue was absolutely stunning, from the well kept gardens to the naturally beautiful building itself - Jo and Simon have created something special with this venue. The venue was the perfect size for our 70 day guests and 110 evening guests to keep it feeling intimate throughout and their recommendations for caterers were perfect.

We booked the Reading Room for our wedding in June 22 and we couldn’t be happier.
The Reading Room only allows visits by appointment which is fantastic as it allows you to view the whole space alone and take as many pictures as you need. We viewed the venue in June 21 which was perfect as we got a good idea of how the gardens looked at the same time of year.
Jo showed us round the venue and answered all of the questions we had. We didn’t feel any pressure to book or felt we were being “sold” anything, which was lovely. After leaving the venue I cried because it is simply so beautiful!
The prices are very reasonable in comparison to other Norfolk venues and you get so much for the money. Not only are Jo & Simon there to help you with any questions, they also help set-up the day before and coordinate on the day of the event. They were totally flexible with our decor and they even communicated with our other vendors in the days leading up to the wedding. To give an example - Simon even drilled some holes in our wedding signage the day before as we forgot to do this!
On the day of the wedding one of our elderly guests fell over outside and before I even noticed, Jo and Simon had made her a cup of tea and made sure she was safe and well.
Overall the venue is just gorgeous. The gardens are stunning, the building is not too cold nor too hot. It’s accessible for everyone too as it’s all on the ground floor with no stairs.
Jo and Simon allowed us to hang lanterns from the pergola, floral arrangements from the beams, use biodegradable confetti, park a drinks van in the grounds, hire a cocktail bar - everything we wanted! They were so flexible and we really appreciated this.
Personally I think this is the best wedding venue in Norfolk and is such a secret treasure. So many guests commented on the beauty of the venue and so many more didn’t even know it existed!
I wouldn’t hesitate to book them if I could re-do it all again.

We got married at The Reading Room in May after changing our wedding plans twice due to the pandemic. Our original plan was to elope to Italy having got engaged on the Amalfi coast, and we therefore wanted a relaxed, Italian inspired wedding. The Reading Room was the perfect backdrop for this - the building itself is beautiful, and the garden is absolutely gorgeous. The venue was the perfect size for us - we could comfortably fit our number of guests, whilst maintaining a more intimate feel. The Reading Room's location meant that we also had the opportunity to take some beautiful photos in the Norfolk countryside, and with it being near the coast, many of our guests took the opportunity to enjoy the North Norfolk coast over the weekend. Simon & Jo were both amazing during the planning stages and over the weekend - we really appreciated how calm, kind and helpful they were throughout. They helped us feel relaxed throughout, meaning we had the most amazing wedding. Lots of guests commented on how wonderful the venue was, and we would highly recommend The Reading Room.

We could go on for years talking about how incredible the Reading Room is.
The venue is stunning and so perfectly put together, in the most stunning setting, me and my Husband fell in love with the venue as soon as we arrived.
We always knew we wanted to get married at the Reading Room but what really makes the venue so so special is Simon and Jo.
The love Simon and Jo have for their wonderful venue is so clear and it makes you feel so special to be apart of such a special place, as soon as we met them both we knew we had made the right decision in choosing the Reading Room as our venue.
Unfortunately due to lockdown our orginal date in April could not go ahead, but we were able to marry 4.11.20, the day before lockdown, the support and guidance we received from Jo and Simon through rescheduling our wedding was incredible and we honestly could not have done it without them.
Simon and Jo made our day truly perfect and could not have done more to help, we are lucky enough to be celebrating again with our reception next year, and it will be incredible to be at the Reading Room again but this time as husband and wife
