OUR STORY
As soon as we saw The Reading Room we fell in love with it. There is something so special about the building which gives you a magical feeling as soon as you step inside. Although originally in a sorry state, there was no doubt about what a beautiful space it was and what could be created.
The dream was born and vision brought to life through these beautiful architectural drawings. The rest as they say is history...
NORFOLK READING ROOMS
Said to capture the spirit of the Victorian age. Reading Rooms were a characteristic feature of communities in East Anglia. Believed to hold small libraries of books and newspapers, for local villagers to sit and read, they were very much a place of learning. Annual dances and special occasions were also held, and even the occasional wedding reception. It is understood that there were around 150 Reading Rooms throughout Norfolk. They were very much an integral part of the local community, much like the Village Halls of today.
THE RESTORATION
In 2016 we set about sympathetically renovating The Reading Room and grounds, returning it back to its former glory. Creating a beautiful, intimate and exclusive private hire wedding venue.
